What We Believe

Our Beliefs

Sterling Lutheran Church is a gathering of believers in Jesus Christ who desire to know and follow him as the Savior and Lord of all mankind. He is the bringer of truth that leads the one sure way through this life and death into the presence of the God who created and preserves this universe.

Our beliefs, teachings and endeavors are based on the truths taught in the Bible and witnessed to in writings authored during the Lutheran Reformation.

Our teachings are guided by the historic creeds of the Christian Church, chiefly the Apostles Creed:

I believe in God the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, his only son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell.

The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven

and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.

From thence He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen

Jesus said, "For God [my Father] so loved the world [every person] that he gave his only son [me] that whoever believes in him should not perish (be overcome by this world and death) but have everlasting life" (overcome this world and death). -- John 3:16

He added, "I have come so that they [all people] may have life and have it to the full." -- John 10:10
